Literacy Liberators program trains community members, including San Diego State University students, to work alongside experienced classroom teachers. Each tutor works with small groups three times a week in a committed classroom, teaching the specific foundational reading skills each child needs right now. Students are assessed every ten lessons, so instruction keeps pace with their growth.

DEEP provides teachers with professional learning  so they know how to instruct and support literacy development based in Science of Reading/Evidence Based practices that can be used to diagnose, teach, assess, repeat so that students have strong support in what research says teaches reading best.
